Postgraduate Ball
The University of Leeds Postgraduate Society presents its annual black-tie Postgraduate Ball.
When: Saturday 24 May 2008
Where: Hilton Hotel, Leeds City Centre
Time: Doors 6:30pm & Dinner 7:00pm
Ticket includes:
A Fabulous Three Course Meal
Half a bottle of wine for each guest (or two soft drinks)
Ceilidh (a very popular and fun traditional Scottish dance)

Tickets go on sale today, Monday, 8 April 2008 at CATS* in the Student Union or from a Postgraduate Ball committee member until 8 May 2008. Tickets can also be purchased at the Postgraduate Society Social in the Terrace Bar each Thursday from 7:00pm onwards until May 8th.

Curry in Hyde Park
Join us for a night of cheap and delicious curry!
Where: Akmal's in Hyde Park (previously a cricket pavillion literally in the park).
When: 7pm, Thursday, 6th March (i.e. we won't be there for the pub quiz on that thursday)
Meet there at 7pm or in the Terrace in the Union anytime between 6-6.40pm.
Bring your own beer! (£1 corkage fee)
Starters: Vegetable or meat samosas and onion bhajis.
Main meal: Your choice!

Pub Quiz at the OldBar
The Postgrad society is going to be at the Pub Quiz in the Old Bar of the Union every Thursday for the rest of the term (unless we say otherwise).... starting tomorrow (22nd of February)!!!
We need a team so please come along!

Opera in York
Pubs and Pints or Study and Books aren't everything in this life, and to prove it, the PostGrad Society is leaving for York on the 12th of February to catch "La Traviata", by Verdi.
Tickets are normally in the region of £10 and a return ticket to York is £6.25 (with a Young Person's Railcard or around £9 for a full fare).

Have you been a good lad/girl this year??
If so, then you will be getting loads of presents this Christmas... and the first one will be attending, next 6th of December, to our own Postgrad Society Christmas Party. The event will take place at 'Boutique' (11-15 Hirsts Yard, Briggate, Leeds, LS1 6NJ) starting from 8pm, but as with our intro party, if you don't want to be on your own, we will be meeting at the Terrace (in the union building) at 7.30.
Prices: £2 for society members; £4 for non-members and £5 for entry + society membership
Remember remeber, the 5th of November...
Ok... so once upon a time (1605), Guy Fawkes et.al. tried to blow up the Houses of Parlament, but didn't make it. However, the ocassion is still `celebrated' today with bonfires and fireworks displays throughout the UK.
Come and see the fireworks in Hyde Park on bonfire night! The bonfire is lit at 7pm on Monday 5th November - we'll be in the Terrace from 6pm until 6.30pm before walking over. See you all there.
